Alaska State Troopers release final data from holiday safe driving campaign

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The holidays are behind us and the Alaska State Troopers have released the final data from their annual 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign. The purpose was to encourage drivers to stay safe on the road and prevent tragedy. According to a press release, Troopers made the following contacts between December 13 and January 1.

There were 39 misdemeanor DUI arrests and zero felony DUI arrests. Thirteen drivers were charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license. Troopers issued 754 citations, of those, 253 were for speeding and 12 were for seat belt or other occupant restraint violations.

Alaska State Troopers also responded to 212 damage only crashes, 18 injury crashes and two fatal collisions.
