Alaska State Troopers arrest man wanted for kidnapping, assault

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Alaska State Troopers arrested a man Wednesday afternoon who's believed to have been involved in an assault and kidnapping in North Pole last night. 35-year-old Daniel McKinney of Fairbanks was taken into custody around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon after he was spotted in a vehicle.

Fairbanks Police located the vehicle and detained him at a gas station on Cushman Street. Alaska State Troopers responded and arrested McKinney without incident.

McKinney allegedly forced his way into a residence near Badger Gas in North Pole. According to Troopers, McKinney proceeded to assault an adult male with a firearm causing an excess of $2,000 of damage to the property. He then forced a woman to leave in a vehicle with him, but she was able to escape without injury. The male victim's injuries were non-life threatening.

Troopers say the incident was related to domestic violence.
