On Sunday morning, the building that housed the former 'Reflections Gentleman's Club' was destroyed by a fire.

At approximately 5:00 AM, a Fairbanks police officer on patrol in the area observed smoke and fire coming from the McKinley Countertops building, located at South Cushman and 24th Avenue.

The officer contacted Fairbanks Fire Department, who responded to the blaze along with aid from the University Fire Department, Fort Wainwright Fire Department, Chena Goldstream Fire & Rescue, Eielson Fire Department and the Steese Fire Department.

Firefighters successfully put out the blaze, but significant damage to the structure's roof and interior could be seen.

South Cushman Street was closed off near the fire until 11:00 AM, when the roadway was re-opened to traffic.

According to Fairbanks Fire Deputy Fire Marshall, Kyle Green, the building was occupied by one person who was asleep during the incident.
Firefighters awoke the individual and he was safely evacuated from the structure without injury.

"Also, the Red Cross responded, there was one occupant inside who was contacted by officers and alerted that there was a fire inside the building. He was woken up and he walked out just about the time we were on scene."

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.

The fire occurred just two weeks after the former 'Show Boat Show Girls' structure was destroyed by a fire.
