Fairbanks business owner John Binkley ramps up run for Governor

The Republican Party may be looking at another candidate for Governor in 2018.

According to sources, John Binkley, part-owner of the Riverboat Discovery, is "really serious" about running for Governor next year.

This wouldn't be Binkley's first time running, as he came in second behind Sarah Palin in the 2006 Republican primary race.

Binkley has also served a single term in both the House and Senate.

Current Lt. Gov. Byron Mallot revealed in an interview last week with Juneau's KINY that Bill Walker and Mallot have decided to run again on the Independent ticket.

Republican Senator Mike Dunleavy, of Wasilla, announced in July that he will run for Governor.
