Nanook Corner: December Schedule for UAF Athletics

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's the first Nanook Corner of the month, which means it's time to take a look at the different events that UAF has to offer for December.
The Holiday Break towards the end of the month is going to limit the action, but we still have some solid games to look forward to.
The month of December is always tricky for College Sports. We'll start with the Nanook Hockey team, who will only have one more series before the Holiday Break. The Nooks will host the Lake Superior State Lakers on Friday December 7th, and Saturday December 8th. The athletes will then get the next three weeks off and will be back in action on January 4th and 5th of 2019 for a home series against Northern Michigan. The Men's Basketball team will only have one more home game before they head to the break, but it's a big one. They will be hosting the UAA Seawolves on Saturday December 8th at 2 pm. This will be their second conference contest of the year and the first match-up against their in-state rivals under head coach Greg Sparling. That contest will be your last chance to see the Nanook Men in action until 2019, when they host Concordia on January 3rd. The Women's team is also done for the Calendar year, they will be back in action on January 3rd against Western Washington. The swim team, who just wrapped up their stay in the Husky Invitational from November 30th to December 2nd, will be out of the pool until the Lion's Cup Invitational on January 11th. And the Nanook Skiing and Rifle teams are both done for 2018 as well. The next event on the schedule for the ski team is the US Cross Country National Championships on January 3rd, while the Rifle team will take on the Citadel on January 9th.
