Amanda Hanson moved from Southern California to Fairbanks in 2001 to pursue a Geology degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Amanda Hanson moved from Southern California to Fairbanks in 2001 to pursue a Geology degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After receiving her BS in Geology with a Minor in Art in 2005, she decided to pursue a Master's of Science in Museum Studies while working in the Earth Science Department at the University of Alaska Museum of the North. Hanson graduated With Merit from the University of Leicester in 2009.
Her background in science allowed for a smooth transition into the weather reporting role at News13 in 2016.
She also has performed in local theater from 2006 until present, and is an avid supporter of all things Fine Art in the Interior.
As a contributing reporter, she enjoys covering Fine Art, Science, Non-profits, and State Politics.
Hanson's two daughters keep her on her toes when she is away from the news desk.
