UAF Rifle Season Starts This Weekend

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks rifle program will begin their season under first full time head coach Layne Lewis

with a match against the Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Air Force Academy on October 13th at 9 A-M.
Lewis becomes the full time head coach after spending last season as the interim coach, and with that he brings

in three new freshmen being led by redshirt senior Sagen [SAGE-IN] Maddalena who is their U-S National Team member and three time All-American in air rifle.

The newcomers include David Wright, who hails from Spokane Washington who shot for the Spokane Junior Rifle Club.
Wright is also majoring in mechanical engineering here at U-A-F.

Next is Spencer Jacobs who comes from Gresham Oregon.
Jacobs shot for the Tri-County Timberbeasts, while also attending Gresham High School.
His brother Ryan Jacobs shot for the U-S Air Force Academy.
Jacobs will be studying business administration this upcoming school year.
Lastly we have Haley Castillo, who is from Albuquerque New Mexico.
Castillo shot for the Eldorado High School's J-R-O-T-C rifle team.
She is majoring in Homeland Security and Piloting here at U-A-F.

The Nanooks open their season with a three day event, starting with both Ohio State and Air Force at 9 A-M on Friday.
Then on Saturday at the same time, it will be the Nanooks against Ohio State.
And finally on Sunday it will be at 9 A-M with the Air Force Academy.
