FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team had two players honored by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with honorable mentions to the all-conference team.
The Nanooks' middle blockers Riley Podowicz and Kim Wong were named for honorable mentions after helping the Nooks to their best record since the 2008 season with a 12 and 20 record.
This is the first time since the 2015 season where Sam Hartun was named to the all-conference first team, that a Nanook was recognized by the GNAC in this fashion.
Alaska finishes with an eighth place tie with Montana State-Billings in the 11 team league.
Also, the Nanooks and head coach Brian Scott announced the signing of a new recruit with Taylor Overn out of Portland Oregon.
Taylor comes from Westview High School, where she was named to the all-conference second team as a setter.
Brian Scott is now building his team to feed off the momentum from his most successful campaign.
