FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs had a player commit to a Division 1 team, and that player is Tanner Schachle.
Schachle has committed to play for the Anchorage Seawolves, and with that he gets to capture his childhood dreams to play Division 1 hockey.
For the Ice Dogs' forward, he grew up in Wasilla Alaska, and for him he gets to play in front of his family.
Tanner Schachle says,"I've got friends and family that have been around the program in different aspects.
I like their coaching staff and their program and what they have to offer.
Anchorage is close to home, and I'm big on family.
It all fell into place pretty good."
He knows all about the rivalry between the Seawolves and Alaska Nanooks, stating that both his parents went to UAF.
So far this season, Schachle has eight goals and four assists through 17 games.
Schachle might be going to UAA, but he will always be an Ice Dog to the Fairbanks faithful.
