Hutchison Meltdown Wrestling Tournament Sees Many Local Winners

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - This past weekend was the Hutchison Meltdown which saw 12 teams come together for a huge showdown.
In the fray was Delta, Eielson, Galena, Glenallen, Hutch, Lathrop, Monroe, Nenana, North Pole, Su Valley, Valdez, and West Valley, and once the dust settled, some of our interior teams had some great results.
In the 98 pound weight, Lathrop got a win from Isaac Wood, while Matthew Sanchez won the 132, and Nathan Kisgen took the 152.
Eielson got a win from Deven Perez who won the 106 pound class, they also got a win in the 160 large in part by Josh Storey.
For the North Pole Patriots, they took home a bunch of first place finishes.
For the 113 class, Sabastian Benefield took the boys title, with Kailey Fowlkes taking the girls title.
In the 120 pound title, Darinn Peterson won the boys, while Raeann Jackson won the girls.
Hayden Alexander won the 145 title, Kyle Kochrine took the 170, and Bradley Antesberger took the 195 to give the Patriots seven first place finishes.
The Delta Junction Huskies won two titles thanks in part to Jason Montes winning the 126, while Calista Wright won the girls 220.
Hutch also won two titles, with Kenya Edwards winning the girls 132, and Kye Pearce took the 138 for the Hawks.
The Monroe Catholic Rams won the 285 class with Tanner Clark.
West Valley got a title in the girls 160 with Taryn Plunk taking it.
All the interior teams will be down in Palmer for the Lancer Smith Tournament this weekend.
