River Watch Says Upper Yukon Villages in the Clear From Major Ice Jamming

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Good news for Villages along the Upper Yukon river. The National Weather Service says as of today, you should be safe from flooding.The River watch team said the risk is low for ice jams and flooding – from Eagle down to Stevens village. That was the farthest section of the river that has been surveyed.

The ice has broken up from Eagle to Circle, and the National Weather Service says it just started moving at Ft. Yukon today, and they expect it to start moving at Beaver on Saturday. Early next week the next river watch team will head out to the middle Yukon.
