Resident Drives Car Into Chena River

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Police say reports came in that a resident drove a vehicle from the Graehl Landing into the Chena River.
The vehicle then floated down the river until it hit a sandbar near the Morris Thompson Visitor Center.
Members of the Fairbanks Police Department and Fire Department rescued the resident, who is allegedly under observation at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
At this time, Fairbanks police have not released an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the car entering the river.
