FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A Fairbanks community advocate has died unexpectedly.
Local nonprofit 'The Bread Line, Inc'., which runs 'Stone Soup Café', announced this morning that its executive director, Ed Bermudez, died unexpectedly yesterday.
Fairbanks police say they responded to the Stone Soup building last night around 7:30 PM after a report that Bermudez might be in distress.
After they were unable to contact him, they entered the building and found him deceased.
Foul play is not suspected.
The Stone Soup Café offers free meals to Fairbanksans in need.
The Bread Line also runs a community garden, and a food service job training program.
In a statement on its website, the organization asked community members to keep Ed and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
