The Installation Safety Office at Fort Wainwright held its 8th annual 'Safety Day' Thursday with a focus on summer safety in Alaska.
Soldiers and their families were able to view demonstrations and visit booths with information on how to stay safe during summer activities.
An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 soldiers visited the Commissary parking lot, where the event took place - that's one thousand more soldiers than last year.
Event Coordinator, Robert Tanner, says learning about safety doesn't have to be boring or scary.
He added that this day is important for the many soldiers not originally from Alaska.
