FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A Fort Wainwright man pleaded guilty to murder yesterday in Fairbanks Superior Court.
19-year-old Lewis Harvin was originally charged with first and second degree murder in 2016 after he fired shots from a revolver into a crowd at a party in University West and hit Janet Barragan, who later died from the injuries she sustained.
According to witness testimony, Alaska State Troopers report that the shooting was a result of a fight that had broken out at the party between Harvin and another man.
Harvin could face between 20 and 40 years for his guilty plea.
A condition of the plea deal was that he had to admit he did intend to shoot the person he had been fighting with.
