Eielson Holds 24-Hour Run/Ruck/Vigil In Honor Of POW-MIA's

Eielson Air Force Base has been holding a week of remembrance for service members who have been lost in the line of duty.

On Thursday, a 24-hour run/ruck/vigil was started at the base track beginning at 5:00 pm, and continuing until 5:00 today.

Runners held the official Prisoner of War-Missing in Action flag as they ran the track.

Every year, a week is taken to hold similar events to honor POW-MIA members.

Event Week Chair, Master Sergeant Casey Grizzard, says it's an important tradition for the air force base.

"It is a huge tribute to those who came before us. It's an honored tradition and it's the least we can do to honor their sacrifices. For those who came before us, it's important to remember our history and our heritage as military members. It's very important top honor those who have come before us."
