Pet of the Week: Ozzie the Dog

By  |

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Ozzie is friendly, fun, and quite the conversationalist.
Let's go meet News 13's Pet of the Week.

Kimberly Imbert; Animal Tender>>"Hi I'm Kimberly and this week's pet of the week is Ozzie. Ozzie is a 5 year old neutered male. He is a Lab and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He came to the shelter as a stray but was surrendered because his owners couldn't pick him up. Ozzie is a really friendly dog, he likes people, and kids, and get along well with other dogs. He is a little bit over weight and could definitely benefit from a well-balanced diet and some exercise. Large breed dogs benefit from staying at a healthy weight. It can be very hard on their joints if they are overweight so it is good to keep them at the ideal body condition and not over weight. Ozzie is a really nice boy, he walks nicely on a leash for the most part, but could use some more training. But he knows basic commands and he settles nicely once he is in a room. He would be a great companion for someone who wants to go on daily walks and who likes to play catch. Ozzie has other dog, cat, rabbit, and guinea pig friends at the shelter looking for loving homes."
