FAIRBANKS, Alaska - If you've been wanting to teach an old dog some new tricks, then Ariel is the one for you.
Let's go meet News 13's Pet of the Week.
Kimberly Imbert; FNSB Animal Shelter - Animal Tender>>"Hi I'm Kimberly and this week's Pet of the Week is Ariel. Ariel is an 8 and a half year old Lab who came to the shelter as a stray and then was surrendered because she likes to run away. Ariel is very energetic and at first glance you definitely would not think she was 8 years old. November is "Adopt a Senior Pet" month, so it would be a perfect opportunity for her to join a home because she is going to start to be in the senior category, though her needs are going to be more like a younger dog as she has a lot of energy. Ariel has a little anxiety, she has been passed around a bit and a lot of it is because she is so energetic, like a typical lab. She loves to play fetch, she loves to swim, and she loves to run. Ariel wasn't getting along with one of the pets in her previous home, so we do recommend mutual visits to make sure she does well with the other dog. Some of her anxiety will be better addressed to start with exercise and just a regular schedule with her family, if she knows what to expect, hopefully she will calm down a little bit and then her new owners can go from there. Ariel is housebroken and she is really friendly, she does well with most people and she's looking for a loving home that likes to play fetch and go on walks. She has other dog, cat, and rabbit friends at the shelter looking for loving homes too."
