Billie Sundgren

News Director

Billie Sundgren has been a part of the Newscenter team since 2003. Long time Fairbanks residents will remember that this is actually Billie's second stint as anchor for the Fairbanks Evening News. In addition to sitting on the desk with Bob Miller, Billie also reports and has known to be called upon to direct a newscast. She also covers City Government.

She is very proud of her Inupiaq culture and shows a natural sensitivity to issues that affect Alaska Natives. She is able to produce stories that affect Alaska Natives with clarity and professionalism.

Ask anyone on the desk or in the newsroom and they'll tell you that her favorite time of year is summer. And her favorite summertime activity is fishing, whether it's at the lake or on the ocean. Winter time activities include watching football. She's also learning to throw a pretty mean set of darts every now and then. When the weather is right, she also enjoys snowmachining.

With the exception of a short time in Sitka, Alaska, Fairbanks has always been Billie's home. Her family includes two of the most important people in her life, her teenagers: Claire and Clinton.
