West Valley sweeps Girls and Boys Team Titles at Region Swimming Championships

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Region 6 Swimming Championships took place over the weekend and the West Valley Wolfpack were able to dominate both the Girls and Boys events.
The Region Championships were hosted by Monroe Catholic School and took place at the Hamme Pool.
The Diving Prelims took place on Thursday, the Swimming Prelims on Friday, and the Finals on Saturday.
The West Valley Wolfpack won the Girls side of things, bringing in a team score of 126 points.
The next closest team was Hutchison, who finished with 49 points.
Lathrop took third for the girls with 47.
This was the tenth straight region title for the Wolfpack Girls.
For the boys, West Valley once again broke 100 points to win the team title.
This one was much closer as Hutchison finished second with 81 points.
North Pole took third with 77.
The Wolfpack teams swept the 200 yard Medley Relays.
The West Valley Girls also won the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays.
North Pole won the 200 and Hutch won the 400 on the boy's side of things.
Individually, Yuki Nagaoka won her first region title, the Pack also earned victories from Heidi Billings, Taylor Keyes, and Anastasia Chen.
North Pole's Annie Conley won the 200 yard Individual Medley, and Katy McCarther won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races for Lathrop.
On the boy's side of things, Joey Slusser, Chris Kim, and Creighton Beshears earned victories for West Valley.
Hutchison earned wins from Charlie Gregor and Noah Palmer.
Alex Suleimani earned two victories for the Lathrop Malemutes while Cameron Conley earned a win for the North Pole Patriots.
There were only four divers competing.
Katelyn Weiss won the 1 meter diving event for North Pole while Kelsey Slater won it for West Valley.
All the first place finishers in the region earned automatic berths into next weekend's Swimming and Diving State Championships down at Bartlett High School.
