West Valley Tennis Players Bring Home Mixed Doubles Championship

By  |

We had some representatives for the Mid-Alaska Conference competing down in Anchorage for the State Tennis Championships over the weekend.
We were able to earn a state Championship thanks to a pair of West Valley Players.
In what was the closest contest of the finals, Brian Ely and Jordan Dick won the Mixed Doubles State Championship with a 7-6 and 7-5 win over Juneau-Douglas' Sammy McKnight and Adelie McMillian.
North Pole's Joseph Schruf was able to take third place in the Boy's singles bracket by defeating Service's Spirit Pretlow. Those were the only interior athletes to place in the top three this year as Joseph and Christine Hemry swept the singles titles for the second year in a row, leading South Anchorage to winning 3 of the 5 finals.
Congratulations to all of our Interior Athletes who were able to make it to the state Championships.
