West Valley Hockey kicks off season with 8-1 win over North Pole Patriots

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The West Valley Wolfpack Hockey Team got their season off to a great start by defeating the North Pole Patriots 8-1 yesterday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
The Wolfpack got off to a hot start thanks to a Coleman Baxter goal 17 seconds into the first period.
Baxter ended the game with two goals for the Wolfpack, who also got a pair of scores from Jaren Beckley and Dylan Savereide.
Tyler Lorring and Anton Ruppert also scored for the Pack.
Kaiden Hafele, London Emerson, and Lorring all dished out three assists, Dustin Sadler earned two, and Brooke Knoles, Dylan Savereide, and Coleman Baxter all chipped in one.
Goaltender Simon Atkinson made 5 saves in his first Varsity game for the Wolfpack.
Jeff Doty scored the lone goal for the Patriots near the end of the middle frame.
Patriots Goaltender Moses Halbert was under fire the entire game, he stopped 40 of the 48 shots he faced yesterday.
North Pole was coming off of a 14-3 win over Delta Junction.
Up next for these teams, the Chugiak Mustangs will be coming up to face them both.
They will play West Valley at the Patty Center this Thursday Night and then will take on the Patriots on Saturday at the Polar Ice Arena.
