UAF Women's Basketball team falls to UAA while the Men's team defeats Cal Miramar

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Both UAF Basketball teams were in action on Saturday night.
The Nanook women's team hosted the UAA Seawolves in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference Contest.
The Undefeated Juggernaut from Anchorage defeated the Nooks 88-56.
The Seawolves outscored the Nanooks 22-5 in the first period and went into halftime with a 39-22 lead that they would never surrender.
The Nanooks were outrebounded 43-33 on Saturday and also committed 32 turnovers.
Lexi Carpenter was one of the few bright spots for the Nooks.
She scored 18 points while shooting 50% from the field.
Josie Sewell and Ashlie Blackburn pulled down 6 rebounds to lead the team in that category.
Blackburn also led the team in assists with 4.
The Lady Nooks will be at home one more time before the Winter break.
They will host Multnomah this Saturday and Sunday.
The Men's team was much more fortunate in their exhibition contest on Saturday, defeating Cal Miramar 102-73.
The Nanooks led this one 40-32 at halftime and then outscored the Falcons 62-43 in the second half to secure the win.
Alex Baham led the Nooks with 27 points while shooting 69% from the field.
Kimble Davis dished out 7 assists while Joe Lendway led the team at the boards, pulling down 6 rebounds.
The Nanook men will be on the road for their next game when they take on Concordia in Portland, Oregon on Saturday.
