FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Lathrop Malemutes hosted the West Valley Wolfpack in their annual Cross-Up Cancer game.
Both teams, and even the referees, were wearing pink and they collected donations to help cancer research.
The Wolfpack were able to earn the sweep with wins in both games.
The West Valley girls won 53-41.
The Wolfpack girls are now 8-2 overall this year and 2-0 in the conference.
Ellen Silva led the pack with 17 points while Tyra Do earned 16 for the Malemutes.
Do was able to hit a major milestone last night.
Those 16 points allowed her to break the 1,000 point barrier in her High School Career.
Her Lathrop Squad is now 8-3 overall and 1-1 in MAC play.
Although Do was only 2 points away from 1,000 late in the game, her career total was not what she was thinking of when she drove to the basket.
Tyra Do; Scored 1,000th Point>>: "Honestly I had four fouls and my biggest thought was 'I can't get a charge right now'. So I was kind of scared when I went up with it but I was like, I got to finish at least. So when they didn't call a foul I was like, 'OK. I got it.' I think it's a great Milestone. It's awesome to hit but... I think it's a personal goal but it's also a goal I wouldn't be able to reach without my team so. I'm really glad I've been able to play here for four years and play with a lot of different girls that helped me get to this spot."
