Successful opening day for Wolfpack soccer

PALMER, Alaska (KTVF) - Yesterday the West Valley Wolfpack opened their season on the road in Palmer against the Colony Knights.

In the girl's game the Wolfpack got on the board first. Riley Baumgartner, an attacking mid fielder put them up 1-0.

Later in the half the Knights tied the game at one. Holding midfielder Hannah Olsen scored the game winner for the Wolfpack in the second half with a penalty kick.

The Wolfpack takes home the victory 2-1.

Kaleigh Sparks got the win in goal.

In the boy's game it was a close one.

In the 34th minute Jacob Lurhs shot and it was stopped by the Knights goalie but Shane Gillette got the rebound and capitalized scoring the only goal of the game.

The Wolfpack win this one, 1-0. Mehki Omnik got the shutout.

The Wolfpack continue their road trip with games against Wasilla today.
