Monroe Catholic Sweeps Hutchison in Aurora Conference Doubleheader

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Four of our Interior Basketball teams were in action last night.
We'll start with the Aurora Conference double-header in Boileau Hall with the Monroe Catholic Rams hosting the Hutchison Hawks.
The Monroe Girls were able to come out of this one on the right side of an Overtime thriller, defeating the Hawks 29-24.
Grace Hodges nailed four shots from behind the arc to help her lead both teams in scoring with 17 points while Bri Majors led Hutchison with 9 points.
The win brings the Monroe girls up to 7-10 overall this year and 3-3 against Conference foes.
The Hutchison girls are now 9-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Boys game started off on a dramatic note with the Rams holding a 15-13 lead after the first quarter, however the Rams were then able to pull away for a 70-41 win.
Gavin Jackson led both teams with 29 points while Mason Young led the Hawks with 11.
The Rams now improve to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play while the Hawks fall to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Hutchison will now look ahead to play Houston on the road on Friday while Monroe travels out to North Pole on Friday night.
