FAIRBANKS, Alaska - We had our first National Letter of Intent signing of the year yesterday at Lathrop High School.
Josh Hernandez signed on to play Football at Waldorf University next season.
Hernandez, who grew up right here in Fairbanks has played for the Malemutes all four years of his high school career, and went from the Starting C-Team Quarterback to leading his team to a playoff berth this last season.
His efforts were recognized enough to be named second-team Quarterback on the All-Railbelt Conference team.
The Waldorf Warriors are an NAIA School located in Forest City Iowa and are members of the North Star Athletic Conference.
Last season the Warriors went 7-4 and were one of the top teams in the North Star.
Hernandez will look to help the program take that next step towards championship success.
Josh Hernandez; Quarterback - Waldorf Warriors>>: "I have a great work ethic and I can play anywhere on the field so I feel like I can be a great athlete to the team and just help anywhere I can. It's gonna be a challenge but I look forward to having a new team. Having new brothers to bond for the next 4-5 years."
