Lathrop Malemutes reclaim Dog Bowl Trophy

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It was Dog Bowl day on Saturday here in Fairbanks, the annual game between the West Valley Wolfpack and Lathrop Malemutes is seen by many to be the biggest game of the year for either school.
Well this year, the dog bowl trophy was taken by the Malemutes, who walked away with a 31-7 victory.
Malemute quarterback Josh Hernandez led his team by going 9 of 19 through the air for 121 yards and 2 scores.
He also earned 67 rushing yards on 14 carries.
Zach Kosa caught six passes for 83 yards and also kicked a 35 yard Field Goal.
Wyatt Story led the Malemutes on the ground with 90 yards on 15 carries.
West Valley's lone score came from a 21 yard touchdown run by Quarterback Maurice Maiden, who led the pack with 102 yards on the ground.
The Postseason Schedule is now set and 3 of our interior teams earned playoff Berths.
The Malemutes locked in the #3 seed in the Railbelt Conference and will take on Bartlett down in Anchorage on October 7th.
The North Pole Patriots locked in the #2 seed in the Southeast Conference and have a date with the Soldotna Stars on the seventh in Palmer.
And out Division 3 representative Eielson Ravens earned the #2 seed in the Aurora Conference on Saturday by defeating Monroe Catholic.
They will now take on the Peninsula Conference champion Homer Mariners on Saturday down in Homer.
We won't have any home playoff games this year, but we will still keep you updated on all of our playoff teams.
