FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were able to earn their 22nd consecutive victory last night down in Richland Hills Texas.
This one was not pretty but the Dogs were able to escape with a 1-0 Shootout victory.
There were only 7 total shots on goal in the first period.
The GOaltenders stood tall through the other two frames and then neither team was able to score in the five minute Overtime Period, so we went to a shootout.
Ice Dogs Goaltender Josh Benson and Brahmas Net Minder Mitchell Gibson turned away the first two shots.
Erkka Vanska scored in the third round of the Shootout for the Dogs while Jakub Sirota scored in that same round for the Brahmas.
Robert Blueger was finally able to score in the 10th round of the shootout to earn the win for the Dogs.
Goaltender Josh Benson earned 21 saves in his 65 minutes between the Pipes to help secure the win, he also turned away Chase Pletzke in the final round of the Shootout.
The Dogs are now 37-5-3-2 overall this year and will look to add to their incredible winning streak when they face the Brahmas again tonight.
