Ice Dogs improve winning streak with 3-1 victory over the Lone Star Brahmas

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were also victorious last night in the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
The Dogs defeated the Lone Star Brahamas 3-1.
The Dogs were able to score twice in the first period and then add one more in the third.
Future Alaska Nanook Samuel Ruffin scored the first goal of the night 4 minutes and 38 seconds into the first period.
Luke Orysiuk then lit the lamp about thirty seconds later.
The defending Robertson Cup Champion Brahmas were then able to make it a one point game in the middle frame, but the Dogs finally put the game out of reach with an Erkka Vanska goal in the third period.
Josh Benson earned the win in goal for the Ice Dogs yet again, stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced to secure the victory.
This was the ninth win in a row for the Ice Dogs, who haven't lost since Kenai River bested them back on December 2nd.
They have a tight grip on first place in the NAHL Midwest Division with a 24-5-3-2 overall record and 53 conference points.
They also have the second most wins in the NAHL right behind the 25-5-3-2 Shreveport Mudbugs.
The Dogs will look to tighten their hold on first place when they host the Brahmas again tonight.
