FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs just finished up an 8-game road trip and are undefeated in 2018.
They wrapped up their trip with another sweep, this time against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. One of the big reasons for their success has been goaltender Josh Benson, who was named the Star of the Week for the NAHL Midwest division.
He earned both wins in goal against the Knights and stopped 60 out of the 64 shots he faced.
He earned 29 saves in Friday's win and 31 on Saturday.
The Stillwater, Minnesota native currently has more victories under his belt than any other NAHL goaltender this season with 14.
He also ranks fifth in the league with his 2.06 Goals against average.
This is the latest honor for the Ice Dogs, who also saw forward and future Alaska Nanook Samuel Ruffin be named the NAHL's Forward of the Month for December.
You can finally see Benson, Ruffin, and the rest of your Fairbanks Ice Dogs in action at home when they host the Lone Star Brahmas this Friday and Saturday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
