Ice Dogs Dominate First Match of RAVN Alaska Cup Series

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs were able to get their season back on track and start this year's RAVN Alaska Cup series off the right way with a 7-1 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears down in Soldotna.
The Ice Dog Goals were scored by seven different players.
Nolan Schaeffer, Tanner Schachle, Samuel Ruffin, Robert Blueger, Hunter Wendt, Erkka Vanska, and Jack Johnston were all able to tickle the twine for the Dogs.
Schaefer, Ruffin, and Vanska were also able to each earn one assist.
Jake Willets, Kyle Mayhew, and Jax Murray both dished out a pair of assists while Noah Wilson, Daniel Haider, Jake Borgida, and John Stampohar all added one.
Dogs Goalie Josh Benson stopped 16 of the 17 shots fired at him in his sixty minutes on the ice.
The win improves the Ice Dogs record to 9-4-2 on the season, they are still tied for second place in the NAHL Midwest Division with the Minnesota Magicians with 20 points.
The win also gives them a 1 game to none lead in The RAVN Alaska Cup series.
The cup will be decided by a best of 12 game series that will run throughout the season.
The Dogs have won the Cup every year since 2013.
