We were finally able to see some Tennis action tuesday night in the 2017 season openers for the Mid Alaska Conference.

The Lathrop Malemutes went head to head with the West Valley Wolfpack and the Monroe Catholic Rams took on the Hutchison Hawks.

The Malemutes were able to defeat the Defending MAC Champion Wolfpack by a score of 4-3.

Monroe and Hutch fought hard to a 3-3 tie.

For the Malemutes Zach Greenberg won his match 7-5, 3-6, and 10-8 in extra sets for the Boys #1 Singles match.
Amara Hackett won both her sets 6-4 for Lathrop in the #1 Girl's singles.
She and Andrew West also combined for a 6-0, 6-0 win in the Mixed Doubles Matchup.

West Valley got their wins thanks to Alex Apicella and Brian Ely in the
Boys doubles and their girls doubles team of Naomi Hartman and Kaitlyn Young.
In the matchup between Hutchison and Monroe, both teams were short on players.
The Rams had no Girls players at all while Hutch only had 4 players.
The Rams were able to sweep the boys singles matches.
Jack Cook won the Boys #1 singles matchup and Pearson Clark won the #2 singles.
Cook and Clark then combined for a 6-1, 6-2 win in the Boys doubles.
The Hutch Girls, Karilyn Blanchard and Sofia Squires won the girls singles and doubles matchups by forfeit and since neither school had a mixed doubles team, the game was recorded as a 3-3 tie.
The Next tennis matchups here in the interior will take place tomorrow when the Hawks will take on the West Valley Wolfpack at the Dan Ramras courts and the Lathrop Malemutes will travel out to North Pole High School to take on the Patriots.
