Goldpanners start home series with a win

A day later than expected the series between the Alaska Goldpanners and the Northwest Honkers got started at Growden.

The Panners have struggled to get their bats going in their first two games of the season but they had no problem in this one.
Eight players recorded a hit and they put up eleven as a team.
They Panners jumped out to a four run lead.
The Honkers clawed their way back into it with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
The Panners put the game out of reach in their half of the seven with another four run outburst.
The score was eight to three heading into the final inning.
Michael Hobbs, from Corona California, took the mound.
He allowed two runs to cross the plate but he earned the save and the Goldpanners take the first game of the seven game series eight to five.
Tyler Heinrichs, from Tulane University, went two for three with two runs batted in and he scored once.
Jordan Ross a shortstop from Spokane Falls Community College finished the game two for five with two runs scored.
Austin Toerner got the win for the Panners.
He allowed five hits and two runs while striking out one.
The series with the Honkers continues tonight.
