Fairbanks' very own Ruthy Hebard will be joining the Team USA Women's Basketball Team for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
Team USA will be competing in a few exhibition games in Italy this weekend to prepare for the cup.
The Tournament runs from July 22nd until the 30th and will feature 16 teams, including Australia, Canada, Egypt, France, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Russia, Mali, China, South Korea, and the US.
Team USA will be taking on Mali on the very first day of tourney play.
They will then take on China on July 23rd and will wrap up their play in the Preliminary round against Italy on July 25th.
The Quarterfinals will then take place on July 28th, the semifinals are set for July 29th and the Medal Games are set for the 30th.
Ruthie Hebard will still be riding the momentum from her incredible freshman year at the University of Oregon last season, which saw her lead the team in scoring and in Field Goal Percentage scoring 551 points while shooting 58% from the field.
She also led the Ducks in rebounds with 314, averaging 8.5 per-game.
Her play helped the Ducks reach the Elite 8 in the National Championship Tournament for the first time in School history before they fell to the #1 seeded UConn Huskies.
The West Valley High School graduate will also be looking to continue her success at the International level as she was on the Gold Medal winning Under-18 squad last year in Chile.
