Fairbanks Ice Dogs stick it to Cancer and the Coulee Region Chill in series opener

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs kicked off their special 3-game "Stick it to Cancer" series last night.
The Dogs also stuck it to the Coulee Region Chill with an 8-0 victory.
They scored 4 times in the first period alone, including two goals within 30 seconds of each other, and then added 2 goals a-piece in the next two frames.
They passed the Puck around as Tanner Schachle led the Dogs in scoring with 2 goals.
Grant Ledford, John Stampohar, Samuel Ruffin, Nolan Schaeffer, Kyle Mayhew, Jax Murray, and recent Bentley University commit Luke Orysiuk all added one.
Murray finished the day with multiple points as he also earned 2 assists.
Robert Blueger earned 4 assists and Erkka Vanska dished out 3.
Goaltender Josh Benson earned himself a shutout in his shift between the pipes, stopping all 21 shots fired his way to secure the win.
The victory brings the Dogs up to 26-5-3-2 this year, tying them with the Shreveport Mudbugs for the best record in the NAHL.
They are first place in the NAHL Midwest Division and have a nine point lead.
The Dogs will continue their series this Friday and Saturday.
They will be wearing their pink "Stick it to Cancer" jerseys that they will also auction off during the games.
