FAIRBANKS, Alaska - After losing a shootout heartbreaker to the Minnesota Magicians on Friday night, the Dogs suffered defeat at the hands of the Magicians again on Saturday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
The Magicians completed their sweep with a 5-3 victory.
It looked like Minnesota was going to walk away with this one after jumping out to a 4-0 lead until the end of the second period.
Then Caleb Hite happened.
Hite accounted for all three of the goals for the Dogs, earning himself a Hat trick.
He scored at the end of the second, then found the back of the net four minutes into the final frame, he then scored his third 2 minutes later to make it a one point game.
Unfortunately, Minnesota was able to add one more goal to escape with a win.
Dogs Goaltender Josh Benson had a rough game in goal, allowing three goals in his 34 minutes between the pipes.
The loss drops the Dogs to 7-3-2 on the year.
They are still at second place in the NAHL Midwest Division, two points in front of Minnesota and 6 points behind the first place Janesville Jets.
The Dogs will look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Shreveport MudBugs in a two game series this weekend at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
