FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs will return to the Friendly confines of the Big Dipper Ice Arena this weekend after a two week long road trip.
They will host the Johstown Tomahawks this Friday and Saturday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
The Dogs went 4-0 on their latest trip down to the states, which extended their winning streak to 17 games in a row. They also further established their claim to being named the best team in the NAHL.
They are the winning-est team in the league with a 32-5-3-2 overall record.
They are the only team in the league with more than 30 wins.
They also have one of the more prolific scorers in the league in the form of Erkka Vanksa.
The Espoo Finland native is the fourth highest scorer in the League with 44 points off of 17 goals and 27 assists.
This weekend's series will be the Kinross Fort Knox Military appreciation weekend.
They will be paying tribute and saying Thank you to everyone who is or has served our country in the Military.
As a matter of fact, their Military Appreciation started on Tuesday night when they went to Fort Wainwright for a Skate with the Dogs event.
This gave the opportunity for the fans to share the ice with their favorite players, and the players had a chance to give back to their fans serving our country.
Nolan Schaeffer; Defenseman - Fairbanks Ice Dogs>>"Yeah it means a lot, obviously this is huge supporters for us, and to give them an opportunity to come meet us is great, great time for us. Yeah I mean it's nice for us to get around these kids and give them a chance to meet us and to give back so. We enjoy doing it. Yeah obviously at the end of the day there's something bigger in life than hockey being what they do for us to give them a night where we recognize them and give them an opportunity to come out and have a good time, it means a ton to us."
