Eielson Ravens Split Aurora Conference Double-Header with Hutchison Hawks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - There were two conference double-headers last night for our High School Basketball teams.
The Aurora Conference contest saw the Hutchison Hawks host the Eielson Ravens.
In the girls game, The Hawks were able to double-up on the Ravens, and defeat them 48-24.
Two different players dropped double-digit points for Hutchison as Brooke Carter and Jacy Flynn both scored 10 points.
McKayla Berry and Savannah Scott led the Ravens with 6.
The Boys game tipped off soon after and got off to a bit of a slow start.
Both teams were tied at 8 after the first quarter.
However, the Ravens were able to open it up in the second quarter to bring a 36-22 lead into halftime.
The Dirty Birds kept their foot on the gas pedal on their way to a 70-47 victory.
Jeramiah Brown led both teams in scoring with 23 points while Matthew Scarboro added 17 and Brock Renson scored 12.
The Hawks were led Mason Young, who earned 22 points.
While his scoring efforts may have helped the Ravens win, Brown believes that defense is a big factor in his team's success.
Jeramiah Brown; Senior - Eielson Ravens>>: "We just started pushing, like, our transition baskets got better and better as the day went on. We're just faster than them in the core, and then it just got better as the game went on, the transition. That's a big part of our game. Our defense is one of our strongest points. We try to play more than one defense per game. It helps confuse them and causes more problems. And we've noticed that."
