Dallas Seavey to compete in the Norwegian Finnmarkslopet in 2018 instead of Iditarod

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Four-Time Iditarod Champion Dallas Seavey will be competing in a different race in 2018 while the Iditarod is taking place.
Seavey will be competing in Norway in March of 2018 in the annual Finnmarkslopet.
The former champion had four of his dogs test positive for Tramadol after the 2017 Iditarod.
Seavey has adamantly denied giving his dogs the drug and says he believes it was given to his team maliciously.
He dropped from the 2018 Iditarod in protest of the Trail Committee, how they handled the positive drug tests, and how they released the information.
Now Seavey will be competing in the 745 Mile Finnmarkslopet in Norway which begins on March Ninth.
If he is able to win it this year he will be the first person to win the Yukon Quest, Iditarod, and Finnmarkslopet.
This will be Seavey's first race in Europe.
