Alaska Volleyball team ties highest win total since 2009

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanook Volleyball team was able to end their season on a great note on Saturday night with a 5 set victory over the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets.
The Nooks lost the first set 25-16 before rebounding to win the next two sets 25-19 and 25-20.
MSUB won the fourth set 25-15 to force the fifth set, but the Nooks were able to win it 15-11 to escape with their 12th win of the season.
Maddie Davis led the Nooks in kills with 18.
Lahra Weber and Gabby Lerma both earned double-digit kills as well, Weber with 15 and Lerma with 11.
Jenna Hickel earned 29 digs while Cate Whiting dished out 39 assists and Kim Wong shut down the Yellowjackets with two blocks.
The Nooks finish the year with a 12-17 overall record, which ties their highest win total since 2009.
It is also the highest win total since head coach Brian Scott took over in 2015.
The win was also the final game for the team's four seniors, Maddie Davis, Ari Horner, Rachel Nichols, and Riley Podowicz.
