Alaska Nanooks finish in 8th place in the WCHA, will advance to playoffs against Minnesota State

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks were on the wrong side of a weekend sweep to the UAA Seawolves on Friday and Saturday.
The Seawolves won Friday Night's game 5-3 after jumping out to a 4 goal lead.
Ryker Leer, Justin Woods and Ross Heidt were able to score for the Nooks.
Saturday Night's game also started out on a bad note with the Seawolves jumping out to a 2-0 lead, but once Niko DellaMaggiore stepped into goal the Nooks seemed to stop the bleeding enough to make it a one point game, but it was too little too late as the Nooks fell 3-2.
Senior Defenseman Zach Frye scored both goals for the Nooks in his final game in the Carlson Center.
Despite the Loss, the Nanooks have beaten the Seawolves 4 times this year, so the Governor's Cup once again belongs to UAF.
That's the 6th consecutive recognized Governor's Cup victory, but the Cup hasn't travelled down South since 2009.
This game served as a farewell to seniors Zach Frye, Nick Hinz, Austin Vieth, Tayler Munson, and Justin Woods.
The Nanooks were able to secure a playoff spot.
They will be the 8th seed, and will face off with Minnesota State Mankato in the first round on Friday night.
