FAIRBANKS, Alaska - We still have quite a bit of time until the Alaska Goldpanners are back in action, but the team has announced their coaching staff for 2018.
The Panners will be bringing up three new coaches this year.
Miles Kizer will serve as the field manager and head coach.
Kizer is currently the assistant coach for the Western Oregon University Wolves.
He coaches hitting and catching for the Wolves while also leading the team's recruiting efforts.
He has brought 4 All-Americans to the university, and 13 of his recruits have signed professional contracts.
Riley Goulding will serve as the Goldpanners Bench Coach this year.
He will be coming to us from Cal State University, where he works with the teams Outfielders, catchers, and hitters while also serving as the first base coach.
Cal State has become one of the top offensive teams in their conference under Goulding.
The third member of the staff will be Pitching Coach DJ Lidyard.
Lidyard has spent the last three seasons for the University of Washington Huskies.
He also brings some professional experience to the job as he spent time in the Minor League Sysytem for the Milwaukee Brewers.
These three coaches will look to help the Goldpanners keep the energy up after their incredible 29-9 season last year.
They will be spending another year as an Independent Summer team in 2018.
