2017-18 Basketball season begins with the West Valley Tip-off tournament

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - High School Basketball Season will get underway tonight.
Our 4A boy's teams who are competing at home will be part of the West Valley Tip-off tournament.
That Tournament was originally set to start with a 4 oclock game between the Kodiak Bears and the South Anchorage Wolverines.
However, since Kodiak's plane was unable to fly out today, that game as been cancelled.
So, the tournament will instead start with the Lathrop Malemutes taking on the Chugiak Mustangs.
The West Valley Wolfpack will also be in action tonight against the Dimond Lynx.
The Tournament will continue through the Weekend.
On Friday Chugiak will face Kodiak at 4pm, Lathrop will play Dimond at 5:30 and the Wolfpack will play the Wolverines at 7.
Saturday's games will see Kodiak vs Dimond at 11am, South and Lathrop at 12:30, and West Valley vs Chugiak at 2pm.
Outside of tournament play, the Lathrop Girls team will host the Thunder Mountain Falcons tonight at 7:30, the Eielson Ravens will head down south for two different tourneys, the boys competing in the SoHi tipoff and the girls in the Kenai River Tipoff.
The North Pole Patriots Girls team will host Thunder Mountain tomorrow and the Monroe Catholic Rams will look to start another great season when they host Glennallen tomorrow night.
The Girls game at 5:30 and the Boys at 7:00.
It is going to be a big opening weekend for High School Basketball.
