Woodriver Elementary locked down Friday morning after incident at transfer site

Shortly before 8:00 Friday morning, Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call regarding an assault at the transfer station near Palo Verde Avenue, causing Woodriver Elementary School to go into lockdown.

According to reports, a resident was dropping off his garbage when he saw a woman inside the dumpster looking through trash.

The two began a verbal altercation when 52-year-old Lonnie White approached them, allegedly brandishing a firearm and making threats against the resident.
White and the woman fled the scene and AST, along with the Fairbanks Police Department, set up a perimeter that later resulted in the arrest of White.
White is charged with felony assault, as well as drug charges.
