(KTVF) - The Alaska Division of Forestry is fighting a 15 acre fire that temporarily closed the Richardson Highway last night from miles 308-310.

The fire was reported by a motorist along the highway around 6:25pm Friday. The individual stated that the fire was growing rapidly.

The Forestry department responded with engines, firefighters, and airplanes to combat the blaze.

The highway has since been reopened, but firefighters from Fairbanks and Delta are expected to remain on-site for two or three days to make sure the blaze is contained.

The fire is believed to be human caused and is under investigation.
