FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Institute of Northern Engineering hosted a May the 4th Star Wars– themed bake sale and talent show today at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The event took place on the patio area outside of the Wood Center.
All proceeds from the bake sale went towards the 2017 American Heart Association's Heart Walk.

Goodies such as a Death Star watermelon, Wookkie cookies, Ewok lemon bars, and Womp Rat cakes were some of the treats on sale.

As part of the event, some local residents and students put together their talents using voice, movement, and music.

Bill Schnabel, who volunteered with the event, said Star Wars Day was a good time to incorporate talent and food.

"People that are associated with the engineering and heavy science fields tend to be Star Wars aficionados and know minute details about each and every Star Wars movie, and so we thought that we'd play upon our already existing strengths of being Star Wars fans and make a production out of it," said Schnabel.
