Two pleaded “not guilty” in 90MPH vehicle chase and burglary

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Two men pleaded "not guilty" in Fairbanks Superior Court today on charges related to a 90- mile- per- hour chase through ice and snow on Chena Ridge.
23-year-old Dametrey Rice and 22-year-old Shawn Kirkvold are both charged with vehicle theft and burglary.
Alaska State Troopers say on November 11th a construction business reported two trucks had been stolen sometime in the night.
Officials spotted one of the vehicles driving on Chena Pump Road, and a chase ensued.
Troopers laid out spike strips, causing the truck to crash into a row of mailboxes.
Officials say the driver ran; and after a brief chase, Kirkvold was found hiding in a shed.
Troopers also arrested Rice shortly after as an accomplice, and later recovered the second vehicle.
