Two motorists killed in Richardson Highway collision

Two motorists died in a two-car Richardson Highway collision last night after a vehicle attempted to cross the divided highway.

At around 6:30 pm, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile 353 Richardson highway near North Pole to the scene of an accident.

Driver, 30-year-old MacKenzie Barnum was traveling Eastbound on the highway when a 77-year-old male driver crossed the highway from the Southside to the Northside.

The two cars collided, killing both drivers.
Next of kin has been notified.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor.
The state medical examiner's office will be conducting an autopsy.
