Alaska State Trooper, Edward Halbert, wants to remind residents to write down serial numbers of your valuables and to keep the list hidden. He also recommends purchasing a quality security system that messages the homeowner of movement and takes high quality pictures.
"There is a lot of good systems out there right now that actually notify your cell phone any time there is motion or activity you can have them set up outside your front door, back door and inside your residence and it will send an immediate alert to your cell phone. Obviously we want, not just a noise alarm but something that takes video, that takes good high quality pictures rather than something that is really pixelated or grainy. So make sure that whatever camera system that you do purchase has good quality video or photos."
